Kucinich to Receive Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary

Washington, Nov 4 -

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) will receive the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary for his leadership in fostering Hungarian-American relations.  The prestigious award was granted by the President of Hungary the Republic of Hungary, Dr. László Sólyo. 

The Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary is among the highest civilian awards that the Republic of Hungary can award. Awardees are nominated by the Prime Minister of Hungary.  Selectees are nominated based on their achievements and outstanding efforts in support of the Hungarian Community. 

Congressman Kucinich will receive the Award today, November 4, 2009 at the Hungarian Embassy in Washington D.C.   Previous winners include: movie director Bela Tarr, singer Marta Sebestyen and musician Tamas Cseh.
